Rembrandt van Rijn (Dutch, 1606-1669) The Angel Appearing to the Shepherds, 1634, probably a 19th century impression (Bartsch/Hollstein, 44iii/iii). Signed within the plate. Etching on wove paper, plate size 10 1/4 x 8 1/2 in. (25.9 x 21.5 cm), framed. Condition: Margins 1/8 inch or more, not examined out of frame. Estimate $500-700 Out of the frame the sheet measures 10 5/8 x 9 inches. There are pencil annotations and pale fox marks to the verso. There is an uneven horizontal crease through the image near the main angel and to his left.
