RARE ALBERT ROSENTHAL (AMERICAN, 1863-1939) SIGNED AND LIMITED ENGRAVING OF GEORGE WASHINGTON, hand-colored engraving on wove paper with strong plate marks, after the 1789 miniature portrait by John Ramage depicting General Washington wearing his military uniform, above a small red-inked engraving of the original portrait, a facsimile signature of John Ramage, the penciled signature of Albert Rosenthal, and “No. 9”. The original title and subscriber sheet attached in the lower-right corner is printed with George Washington. From The Miniature By John Ramage, 1789. In The Possession of Mrs. Moses S. Beach, above “Printed by E. Opitz. Philadelphia, May 25th, 1897” and “Twenty Copies in Four States of this plate printed and Subscribed for by” followed by a list of the 20 subscribers, including No. 9 Joseph Wright. The sheet is tipped at the upper edge to a mat and comes with an antique frame. Sheet: 13 5/8″ x 11″. Frame: 16 1/2″ x 13 1/2″ OA. Catalogue Note: The listed subscriber of the current print, Joseph Wright, is thought to be Joseph Kirk Wright (1826-1911) of Mahoning Township, Lawrence Co., Pennsylvania.
